1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Snorz processes, why it is processed, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.

  • Audio analysis runs on your iPhone.
  • Silence is never intentionally stored.
  • Likely snoring events are stored locally as clips so you can review them.
  • Private iCloud Sync is optional.
  • Discover sharing is optional and applies only to a clip you explicitly select.
  • Snorz does not use third-party advertising trackers and does not sell personal information.

2. Microphone audio, recordings, and reports

With your permission, Snorz uses the iPhone microphone during an active sleep session. The live audio stream is analysed on-device to identify sounds that may be snoring.

What stays in memory

The continuous live stream is used for analysis. Snorz does not intentionally save an all-night raw recording or periods classified as silence.

What may be saved on your device

  • Audio clips for events identified as likely snoring
  • Session start and end times
  • Detected event timing and duration
  • Relative loudness measurements
  • Analysis coverage and confidence information
  • Your optional reported sleep position
  • Snore Load and related non-diagnostic trend data

This information is used to create night reports, calendars, timelines, widgets, and longer-term patterns.

3. Optional private iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud Sync, Snorz stores a private copy of your recording data in Apple CloudKit so it can be available on your other devices. Your on-device database remains the primary local copy.

Private CloudKit data is associated with your Apple Account and is processed by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Snorz does not receive your Apple Account password.

You can disable iCloud Sync in Snorz Settings. Deleting all sleep data in the app requests deletion of the corresponding private CloudKit records as well.

4. Discover and public sharing

Discover is an optional community feature. Browsing Discover does not publish your private sleep data.

If you create a public profile or interact with Discover, Snorz may process:

  • Your chosen public username and its change history
  • The specific audio event clip you explicitly choose to publish
  • The clip’s Sound Match, duration, relative loudness, and posting time
  • Your reactions to public posts
  • Reports you submit about public content
  • A privacy-preserving identifier derived from your iCloud user record to keep profiles and interactions consistent

Published clips and usernames are stored in the public CloudKit database and can be heard or seen by other Snorz users. Your complete night report, unselected clips, sleep position, and private trend history are not included in a Discover post.

Share carefully: Audio can contain speech or identifying background information. Listen before publishing and obtain permission from anyone whose voice or private information may be present.

You can delete your own public post in the app. You can also report content or block a creator. Snorz may remove public content when needed for safety, policy enforcement, or legal compliance.

5. Purchases and Snorz Pro

Apple processes App Store purchases. Snorz uses RevenueCat to retrieve products, complete purchase flows, restore purchases, and determine whether the Snorz Pro entitlement is active.

For these purposes, Apple and RevenueCat may process transaction identifiers, subscription status, an app-user identifier, and device or app technical information needed to provide and protect the purchase service. Snorz does not receive your full payment-card details.

For more information, see Apple’s Privacy Policy and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.

6. This website and support requests

This static website is hosted with GitHub Pages. GitHub may receive ordinary server-log information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of access to operate and secure the service. Snorz does not add analytics cookies, advertising pixels, or behavioural tracking scripts to this website.

If you open a GitHub support issue, the information you submit is public. Do not include recordings, health information, purchase receipts, Apple Account details, or other personal information. Use the private reporting link for sensitive privacy or security concerns.

GitHub processes website and support data under the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

7. How information is used

Snorz processes information only as needed to:

  • Detect likely snoring and produce the reports you request
  • Play, organise, retain, sync, or delete your clips
  • Provide widgets, trends, and Snorz Pro features
  • Operate Discover profiles, posts, reactions, blocking, and reporting
  • Process and restore subscriptions
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable obligations
  • Respond to support and privacy requests you initiate

8. When information is shared

Information is shared only in the following circumstances:

  • At your direction: when you enable iCloud Sync or publish a selected clip to Discover.
  • With service providers: Apple provides microphone, App Store, and CloudKit services; RevenueCat provides subscription entitlement infrastructure; GitHub hosts this website and its support tools.
  • For safety or legal reasons: when reasonably necessary to enforce policies, protect users, respond to lawful requests, or comply with law.
  • During a business transfer: if the app is reorganised, acquired, or transferred, subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.

Snorz does not sell your recordings or personal information and does not use them for third-party advertising.

9. Retention, deletion, and your choices

  • Session summaries remain on your device until you delete them.
  • Playable clips follow the retention option available in the app, such as 7, 30, or 90 days, or until you delete them.
  • Private iCloud copies remain while sync is enabled and until the corresponding data is deleted, subject to Apple’s normal backup and service processes.
  • Public Discover posts remain until you delete them or they are removed for moderation, safety, or legal reasons.
  • Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their legal and operational requirements.
  • Support requests remain on GitHub unless deleted or otherwise handled under GitHub’s policies.

You can delete individual events, public posts, or all sleep data from within Snorz. You can remove microphone access in iPhone Settings, disable iCloud Sync in Snorz Settings, and manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

10. Security

Snorz uses platform security features, local app storage, Apple CloudKit controls, and limited data collection to reduce risk. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device and Apple Account protected, and do not publish sensitive recordings.

11. Children

Snorz is not intended for children to publish audio publicly without a parent or guardian. If you are below the age at which you can consent to digital services in your country, use Discover only with a parent or guardian’s permission. A parent or guardian who believes a child has published personal information should contact us through the private reporting channel below.

12. International processing

Apple, RevenueCat, and GitHub may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Their respective privacy statements explain the safeguards and locations applicable to their services.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Snorz changes or when legal and operational requirements evolve. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when a new version is published. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through App Store release information.

14. Contact

For general questions, open a public support request without including personal data. For privacy, safety, or security concerns, use the private reporting channel.
